French language:

This morning the gr6's presented their First Nation treaties research. They were excellent and we learned a lot. Then we had our dance rehearsal for the MCS Dance Extravaganza. Please remember to wear all black or other dark colour with white socks.

English Language:

We contended with a good many interruptions today with all the rehearsals and preparation for the "Dance Extravaganza." Amid the hubbub, we managed to finish the final chapter The Giver. We had an excellent conversation about the novel's 'unconventional' ending, and we discussed some of the wider themes of the text. On Wednesday, we will watch the cinematic version of The Giver and compare it to the novel. It is rated PG-13 with a two scenes of mild violence (click here to see the film's parental rating, according to the IMDB). I have also included a note home about this. If you do not wish your child to view The Giver, please let me know and I will happily make alternative arrangements for them.

After second break, we read and learned about word origins in the English language. The students started working on a small package titled, English - a Language that Likes to Lend and Borrow. The students are to complete this package for homework (Due Friday, Dec. 18th).
