EM-newsletter Jun

Le bulletin 6/7FI (juin, 2016)

Wow our last month of school! Where has the year gone? June will be another busy month so please refer to the Important Dates on the blog. I have also photocopied the calendar for the students. I have noted everything that I know of; however, other events will pop up. Finally we are trying our best to plan a French Immersion field trip…

Communication:
Stefan and I continue to update our blog daily, www.67fimcs.blogspot.ca  with important dates, activities, and homework. Of course, you can still email us at emma_mccurdy@bwdsb.on.ca, stefan_embacher@bwdsb.on.ca, call at 519-538-2260, extension 120, or come and see us at school.

What we are learning
In French language, we finally finished reading Jean Baptiste, coureur de bois (gr6) and La valise de Hannah (gr7)! Students are writing a reading response and preparing to present a survival kit, pretending to be that character.  In social studies, Gr6’s created brochures on a humanitarian organization that involves Canada. In geography gr7’s are finishing learning about natural resources and writing reports about nonrenewable and renewable resources. We will spend the rest of June working on French language conventions, especially verbs.

In science, gr6’s are learning about space. Gr7’s learned about convection, conduction, and radiation heat. Once we have completed both units, we will spend the rest of our science classes learning about advancements in space.

In visual arts, students learned about famous sculptors and reproduced their own sculpture using a hanger, nylon, and paint. They will also learn about and reproduce pop art. I am hoping to make our own media art but this will be depending on time. We will also make decorations for gr8 graduation.

In physical education, Mr. Harding and I divided both classes into two teams, team Harding and team McCurdy, to play a season of soccer-baseball. This will continue until the end of school.

Sincerely,

Emma McCurdy
