Math:

We spent the first part of the math period proving the formulas for area of a rectangle, area of a parallelogram, and area of a triangle, by cutting and transforming the figures. The grade 6's went on to work on problems involving area of parallelograms while the grade 7's worked on problems involving area of triangles.

Language:

The students continued to work on their persuasive writing pieces. There were many students away today and since we lost Wednesday to a snow day and the grade 6's will be away for most of next week, the students probably will not start typing first drafts until after March break.
