French language:

We started term 2 geography today. Gr7's are learning physical geography. The first unit covers the 5 themes of geography. They independently read the first chapter about the first theme, place and location. Students are to finish their assigned questions for Thursday. Gr6's are learning about Canada and our trading partners. We started chapter one, 'le commerce'. We read the first few pages which were an overview of the chapter. Students are to complete a homework assignment to find out where their clothes and food comes from (see links). This is due on Thursday.

Since gr7's will be away this Wednesday, gr6 students will present their French speeches on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

Gr7 GBSS permission forms went home today.

Math:

The grade 7's spent some time finishing up their work from last week (determining the area of parallelograms). The grade 6's reviewed metric unit conversion and then worked on some problems that involved calculating and comparing the perimeter and area of various quadrilaterals.

English Language:

The students wrote the content quiz for chapter 10 of LOTF and then we discussed and recapped developments in plot, character and theme. In writing, we went over the "success criteria" for the persuasive writing assignment that the students have been working on. The students will begin bringing home the essay organizers to work on. Our goal is to be ready to type a rough draft by next week.

Homework: Read chapter 11 of LOTF for Friday
