French language:

In order to create more French presence and cultural awareness in the school, we discussed having our first Carnaval de MCS on Friday, February 12. The FI students are responsible for organizing the event and spent time on the iPads researching activities. In groups of 2 or 3, students have chosen their activity and are responsible for creating and implementing one centre. Please see the success criteria and rubric.

In grammar, we started ch5 with a short read and comprehension questions. In guided reading, I read La Valise d'Hana with the gr7's while the gr6's read Jean Baptiste together. We are working on the strategy to read on for full meaning when we are stuck on a word. Often students get stuck on unknown words that are not important. When we continue to read the meaning of the unknown word usually becomes apparent.

Science:

Gr6's finished the flight unit learning about the forces of flight. We will review this unit on Thursday. The unit test will be on Tuesday, January 26. Gr7's learned about structural failure.
