In art, students sketched different faces to create a picture of a crowd. There was a supply while I attended a safe schools meeting.

Science fair dates are as following:

Wednesday, March 30, 2016: Gr7 Senior Science fair @ Bayshore Owen Sound

Wednesday, April 13, 2016: Gr6 Junior Science fair @ Bayshore Owen Sound

I am waiting for the Concours date which is held at the board office; however, I would imagine it will be around the same time as last year (March 25).

I am in the process of creating student information packages. In the meantime you can navigate the Bluewater District School Board Science Fair website under online resources.

Our new novel study is now in full swing. The students started the period off with a content quiz on chapter one of Lord of the Flies. I was happy to see that the students had completed the reading and that they comprehended all of the major plot events. We followed up the quiz with a stimulating discussion about the introduction and formation of the main characters (Ralph, Piggy, and Jack). Finally, the students were given 30 minutes to respond in writing to one of several "Quickwrite" writing prompts about the opening chapter. They generated some great ideas, asked some important questions, made some impressive connections, and offered some interesting predictions in their written responses.

The students had music after 2nd break and then for last period, we joined Mrs. McNally's grade 2 class for "learning buddies." As always, they demonstrated an admirable degree of patience and care when working with that group of young learners.

Homework: The students are to finish chapter 2 of Lord of the Flies for Wednesday of next week. If they happen to forget their text at school, I have posted a PDF copy that can be accessed on-line (see under "On-line Resources").
