Yesterday morning, gr6's continued to research First Nation treaties on the iPads while gr7's worked on creating roles for the upcoming debate between the Pacte de famille (progressives) and the reformists. I am really proud of both groups' progress:) Then we read two chapters of Jeanne d'Arc. I am hoping to finish it soon so we can begin literature circles (guided reading).
In math, gr6's solved mystery quadrilaterals, proved true or false statements, measured angles using protractors, and constructed polygons and quadrilaterals. I am proud of their ability to work independently (without me) and cooperatively with each other:)
Gr7's learned about transversal, parallel, and corresponding angles and reviewed perpendicular and angle bisectors. Then they learned how to find the value of unknown angles without using a protractor. They had to use the rules of angles and algebra to solve them. Very challenging and I am proud of their perseverance.
We are almost finished 2D geometry so there will be a test when I am sure that they are ready. Then we will start science again.
Please note: the ch3 grammar test will be on Tuesday, November 24. I was only able to book the computer lab on Monday and students need to work on their history projects.
